Bruce Laishley is a land developer and successful entrepreneur who has lived in Punta Gorda, Florida, his whole life. Bruce has been working since he graduated high school, stepping in heroically to fill his father’s shoes after unfortunate circumstances.
About Bruce Laishley
The idea of putting his dreams and goals on pause never factored into Bruce’s decision to help support his family. After assuming the role of VP in his father’s landscaping business, he found out he had a knack for the ins and outs of the business world and a deep appreciation for the environment. Even after selling the profitable business 14 years later, Bruce took those lessons with him and began creating land development projects, all with the founding principle that they remain eco-friendly and sustainable.
Bruce has started more than 30 businesses since then and has helped thousands of people find steady employment. In his hometown of Punta Gorda, he is an active philanthropist, providing resources to his community and investing in other sustainable development projects. Bruce also frequently mentors up-and-coming entrepreneurs.
These days, it is hard to walk around Punta Gorda without seeing the Laishley name. Among the many successful enterprises established by Bruce, perhaps the most popular ones are those available to the public at large, such as Laishley Park, a pet-friendly space with attractions such as a 400-foot fishing pier, an interactive play fountain, a performance space, a Veterans Memorial Garden, and walking trails along the Charlotte Harbor shoreline Harborwalk. In addition, The Laishley Crab House Complex, featuring a waterfront restaurant and shopping outlet, is also located in the park.
An avid boatsman, Bruce also created Laishley Marina. Located near Laishley Park, it has 94 boat slips and immediate access to Charlotte Port, which is Florida’s second-largest port. The marina’s location provides excellent fishing and access to the Gulf of Mexico through the Boca Grande Pass. A communal boat launch, pump-out facilities, anchoring area, and day dock are among the marina’s many nautical features. The marina building houses the harbormaster’s headquarters, a retail ship store, a day room with bathing and laundry resources, and communal spaces and pavilions that people rent out for special events.
Bruce Laishley’s business ventures take him all over the globe, and he loves bringing his family along whenever possible. As much as he enjoys combining business trips with family vacations, Punta Gorda will always hold a special place in Bruce’s heart.
